Excluded Area Logic

Modified on Mon, 15 Jun at 4:05 PM

Excluded areas are applied at the stand level using a centroid-based method.

A stand (hexagon) is excluded only if its centroid falls within the Excluded Area datalayer. If the centroid is outside the excluded area boundary, the stand remains included in the scenario, even if part of the stand overlaps the excluded area.

Because exclusion is based on the centroid rather than full polygon overlap, excluded areas may not perfectly align with stand boundaries.

See the example image below. The circled stand is included because its centroid is outside of the Excluded Area layer.
