What is Max Allowable Treatment?
Max Allowable Treatment is a predefined treatment plan that assigns the maximum treatment permitted for each eligible pixel based on its protected-area status and vegetation type. It provides a consistent way to model an upper-bound treatment scenario without requiring a user to design treatments stand by stand.
The term “maximum” refers to the most intensive treatment that is legally and technically available under these rules. It does not mean that every pixel is treated with thinning.
How treatment is assigned
- Only forested pixels are eligible.
- Forested Areas in Wilderness Areas or Wildlife Refuges are treated with Burn Only.
- All other Forested Areas are treated with Thin & Burn.
